All external speakers need to be submitted with at least 21 days notice so that we can check your speakers. External speakers are any speaker who are not a current MMU Student or MMU/Union member of staff. This includes persons who have previously been staff and / or students at MMU. Please complete one form for each speaker. The organiser of the event must make themselves sufficiently aware of the speaker’s background and reputation to be able to take a considered view as to whether it is appropriate to host the proposed event. The primary consideration is whether the event can be managed safely and whether any additional measures should be put in place to enable the event to go ahead. The following questions will enable the organiser of the event to consider how to mitigate any risks the speaker’s attendance might bring, and ensure that the event can be managed appropriately. An external speaker is anyone who is speaking to an audience at your physical or virtual event who is not a current MMU Student or member of Staff. This includes students from other institutions and MMU Alumni. You can find the full University Code of Practise on Freedom of Speech here: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/media/mmuacuk/content/documents/policy/policy_ref_code_of_practice_on_freedom_of_speech.pdf
Please fill in the full details in the section below. Any gaps in information may result in the delay of approval and mean your event may have to be postponed.
If the speaker isn't from an organisation please state this.
Please give detail. Stating the topic or name of your event is not enough detail. For example: Are they speaking about personal experience in that area or a specific element of the topic?
